“The Fisherman’s Daughters”

Book, Music, & Lyrics by Katie Dahl

It’s 1908. Sarah Peterson lives alone in the woods on a windy point not far from Fish Creek, a spot the governor wants to claim for Peninsula State Park. When her sister, Nora, returns home from Chicago, the two have never felt further apart—but they must decide their next steps together. A funny, touching tale of two sisters and the land they love. Clear-eyed, hilarious, and poignant, “The Fisherman’s Daughters” has captured the imaginations of thousands of theatergoers since it premiered at Northern Sky Theater in 2021. The musical has been made into a live cast album (stream it here), been brought back for an encore Northern Sky production in 2024, and will be performed at the Milwaukee Rep January-March 2026.
